Get rags, roll them into balls, tie those with strings, so they stay in ball form. When it's dusk, around 10ish maybe? After the skunks have gone foraging, and you won't get sprayed, basically, soak those rags in ammonia, and put the soaked rags into the "skunk heaven". Skunks can't stand their home smelling, so they'll leave.

This is a very expensive method to rid your self of any four legged beast's that wander onto your property.
Go to local Veterinary and ask him to obtain you a Bottle of Panther urine.
Put that into a spray bottle and be sure to set the nozzle on stream. Then spray the property line with a good dousing.
There is no other animal except for Panthers that will cross on to your property after the application.
I might suggest that while ordering the bottle , Ask the Vet if there is a remote chance of a local habitat of Panthers.

Once a skunk decided to dig a hole and live underneath a toolshed that we had just built at my parents' place. I thought my dad was crazy but he put some mothballs around the hole and that seemed to get rid of them. btw skunks aren't much trouble as long as you don't surprise them at night. Baby skunks are terribly cute... as long as you keep your distance from the parents!

It sounds bizarre but my daughter's a pre-vet major (senior) and has done loads of volunteers at the local big cat rescue. Contact your local zoo for "Zoo Doo" (that's what our local zoo calls it). You can buy it as a fertilizer but I think it's the tiger poo that repels the nuisance animals like skunks and raccoons. It's also supposed to stop dogs from digging under fences (that was our need at the time). It makes sense to me that a local big cat rescue would be even better since you wouldn't be buying something diluted down with tamer animals "stuff" like zebras and monkeys.

To expand on the previous answer of worms and bugs. Skunks are mainly after grubs in your lawn. Treat your yard for grubs and when they are gone so will be the skunks. They are after food unless their dens are on your property. Then they'll come and go in search of food. They usually burrow under out buildings or wood piles etc. Most likely after food they are nocturnal. (Night feeders) If you see them in the day time beware! They're great carriers of RABIES! ps. They'll also eat dog or cat food that may be left out.

The panther urine idea sounds neat. My suggestion is to put in water sprinklers with motion detectors. When the animals enter the yard, the sprinklers will turn on. Eventually the animals will learn to stay away from your yard. Set the sprinklers to turn off after 5 minutes.

Skunks return to one place year after year. You will just have to grin and bear it. Maybe you could make peace with them by not invading their territory and they (hopefully) will not bother yours.
