I don't know your age so I can't exactly tell you it is a specific thing but I know what it could be.

If it was sort of sludgy and think almost a taupe brown color then it was your period starting but it was mixing with your natural fluids first and just staining it. That means your full period will come in a few days.

If this happened and you accidently forgot to take one of ur BC pills then it is spotting or your period is being ontes too early so your body is fighting to keep it dormant until it is time.
Wear a light days pad first unless it is too heavy for that. Change it often only because the "sludge" is sometimes too thick to soak into the pad and you don't want to keep that moisture against your skin for too too long.

I mean often as every hour or 2 depending on how much is comming out. If your period comes it will then be caught by the pad and then you can just do your normal changing routine like your do on a monthly basis.

If this is your first time... that means every time you urinate or about 4 or 5 times a day

if it's dark, that means it's old blood. fresh blood is bright red. if it lasts through the day and into tomorrow, then it's probably your period. you will need to change your pad every few hours. check it when you go to the restroom, just to make sure you don't have an accident! it's usually heaviest at the beginning of the period, and tapers off at the end (around day 6 or 7). if you can force yourself to use a tampon, do it, it's so much better! (use some lubricant to slide it in, use a junior size, and go slowly!) good luck! :)

Yes, it's your period! Congratulations!
You should change your pad when it gets uncomfortable, it depends on the person. There isn't a set schedule for it, you will get the hang of it.

Congratulations, you have your period! Okay, so changing your pad...change it every 2 hrs or if you feel you should. As for tampoons, use the smallest size possible. Any bigger, it will feel very painful.

Its sounds as though it was your period, unless you somehow have a cut that is bleeding...

change your pad when it is uncomfortable or leaking.
