Our house is in the middle of our block, so lots of people make U-turns in our driveway.

Put something in the middle of the driveway to prevent people from using it. A traffic cone, a trash can, or parking a car at the end of the drive will all work.

Place an object in the middle of your driveway such as orange cone, chairs or whatever you can get and post a sign "reserved" that way they would never make a U-turn, alternatively if everything else fails just put up a gate, it helps.

This is a hard one, on one hand you don't want to be a big jerk and upset some guy who comes back and spray paints your house. But i did have this problem and i put a car (a non runner)about 1/4 of the way into my driveway , i could still pull in with know problem but others couldn't use it to make u-turns.
Good luck

Technically the property from the curb 8ft in is state owned for right of way to utilities etc. How about just parking your car there in the street or just in the driveway.

get a piece of 2x6 wood and cut it to fit along the base of your driveway.. put nails in it every foot and bend the toward the street so noone will step on the by accident.. put a piece of rope on the edge so it can be drug away easily.. this is not safe but it works...........a simple sign also works or just caution tape

Richard, I know it is annoying, but have you thought of just letting it go? I read all the responses and all I could think of was "Is this where we've gone?" Why not try to understand that they aren't picking you on purpose, they simply need to turn around and this is a way MANY other people do it without harm?

Consider each time they do it, and you notice, as a random act of kindness on your part, just not getting bothered. Consider it a nice gesture that you aren't going to get angry or bothered.

I know it's a pain for you ... but please, let's make this world a better place, one person at a time. And you turning your other cheek would help. Thank you --

Buy orange cones. Or call the police...LOL! Basically, keep a car outside, locked, so they can't get in. Put an object, blocking their way.

in alot of municipalities, a driveway is considered a thorofare. although it's private property.it's considered a thorofare because of emer vehicles can use it. if you put nails or a spiked board, and someone gets damaged tires, you are liable! thats a fact. or if a child rides a bike thru there, and gets hurt, you are liable. a permanent gate is the best, and it is permissable, if its part of a fence.

Isn't that a pain? Get one of those big orange cones from Home Depot... maybe 2! Stick them in your driveway.
The alternative being to stand out there naked. That will scare them off.
