how old is you nano? there was a issue with the headphone jack on the first gen nano pods that apple replace for free. worth contacting apple about. changing headphones wont solve your problem

You should then get apple headphones because your ipod comes with them and you are also gonna get the goodest sound quality from headphones that are made for ipods like the apple headphones.

any headphones will work on a ipod go out and buy a new pair
