x = total students in 9th grade
180 = 90% x = .9 x
x = 180/.9 = 200
So 200 -180 = 20 students who do not take algebra.

20 ... since 90% of x = 180 then .9x = 180

180/.9 = 200 ... therefore, 200 (total ninth graders) - 180 (taking algebra) = 20 (not taking algebra)

Rewriting the sentence in the language of math,
0.9 * total = 180

So, subtract 180 from the total, and you have the number of students not taking algebra, or (180/0.9) - 180 = number not taking algebra.

For the answer:

if 180 = 90% (0.90)
then 180/0.90=100% which is 200
so 200-180 = 20

7D^2 - 35D = 0 divide 7 from the two factors. D^2 - 5D = 0 boost into: D^2 - 5D = D(D - 5) = 0 you could examine via utilising the distributive components that's a(b+c) = ab+ac. now, it is the two D=0, or D-5=0 because of the fact something prolonged via 0 equals 0. the respond is D=0 or 5
