Personally, I'm hoping it will a long time a long time a long time before it exactly happens.

Thank you.

There are several good possibilities.

The one that will do it, if we last that long, is the heat death of the universe, when no more chemical or nuclear reactions are possible, and all energy has been reduced to randomized heat.

Another one, is that the entire Milky Way Galaxy will eventually get sucked into the giant black hole at the center, never to be seen again.

A more immediate possibility is that our sun will expand into a red giant in mere millions of years, which will kill everything on the planet before it vaporizes the world.

There are always asteroid collisions, which we may or may not be able to do something about someday. If we get off our duffs.

Evolution itself will eliminate us someday. What, you thought it stopped just because we were here? An even more fit species may come along someday. What survives may look human, but it will not be human, nor anything remotely related to us.

I suppose, if the worst-case scenarios for global warming hold any water (ha-ha) we could all get drowned or steamed. Similar caveats apply for pollution of any kind.

The most immediate threat to us is human nature itself. Space exploration, oceanic exploration, genetic manipulation, computers—we STILL have not found anything as interesting as war.

But, who cares? Why SHOULD we survive?

“A live body and a dead body contain the same number of particles. Structurally, there’s no discernable difference. Life and death are unquantifiable abstracts. Why should I be concerned?”
(Dr, Manhattan, Watchmen)

What difference will it make to anybody? If truth, love and justice meant nothing before humans came along, and they will mean nothing once humans are gone, why should they mean anything to us now?

You’re not starting to think that there might just be a God after all, are you…? Of course, that is the answer. If there is no God, everything is meaningless, except for what we imagine (and who are we? we could be mistaken.)

As per my knowledge If there are any chances of touching the Sun to the earth or Ending the Earth by any mean before 5 Bn Years, then they could be as follows : 1) The Galactic merger of Milkyway and Andromeda will take place within 4.5 Billion years that is earlier. If any black hole or star or planetory bodies Enter in our Solar system in than merger, It could cause the earth to change it's Orbit around the Sun and the Earth may be disolved into the sun. 2) If any micro or Small black hole Enters in our solar system and reaches somewhere near the Earths Orbit, It will Directly Swallow the Earth or Will change it's Orbit and so on. The scientific calculations are based upon the present technologies used and the knowledge source. They are never accurate But these calculations tend to Get perfect as the time passes on. No religion is older than the Humans or the humanily which could predict the future.

*sigh*
the earth will be burned to a cinder by the sun in about 2 billion years. Before that the odds are that a large asteroid will hit, but we have no way yet of knowing when.

There are a few billion years left. However it will be burned to a crisp as the sun expands. Its not happening soon so relax.
