I'm only a webmaster, and I installed a block of source code to read the stats; these stats reveal IP addresses, and I got one which reads 127.0.0.1. However, since my IP address is blocked, what does this mean? Is someone pinging me?

127.0.0.1 is your local loopback device, also know as "localhost." Every computer that has a network interface has it. It's used to test the network capabilities of your computer. You can ping it, telnet to it if the telnet service is turned on, etc.

127.0.0.1 is your local machine, or, in this case, the server itself.
What is most likely is that some other piece of software on your server tried to get a page from your domain (monitoring software is a great example of software that does this).
127.0.0.1 is the computer's way of saying "me". Any connections you see to or from 127.0.0.1 will only go to the machine that initiated the connection - they will not go to another machine.
Unless you have very high numbers of hits/bandwidth from localhost (127.0.0.1), I wouldn't worry about it. If you do have tons of hits and bandwidth being consumed, take a look at what software is running on the server itself, since that is where the traffic is coming from.
In addition, ping traffic will not show up in most server logs. It MAY show up in firewall logs, however, if you are really looking for it. Ping traffic is relatively unimportant, unless you are getting the amount of ping traffic that Yahoo itself does (on the order of multiple T1 circuits continuously).
