WCW (World Championship Wrestling), existed from 1988 until 2001. It was owned by Ted Turner (also owns the Atlanta Braves). Monday Nitro lasted from 1995 until 2001. The ratings were low at first but it proceeded to draw better ratings than the WWF for 88 straight weeks. The first ever main event took place between Hulk Hogan and Big Bubba Rogers (aka Big Boss Man in the WWF passed away in 2004)
