Hi, I really feel for your loss.

I dont know for sure but I cant imagine that it would have caused your miscarriage.

Please dont blame yourself. Many miscarriages happen with no known cause.

I would recommend though that you limit your drinking if you are planning on getting pregnant again. It cant do any harm if you dont use it. Plus, if your body is healthier the chances of a healthier baby are higher.

Good luck, and I wish you all the best during your time of grief.

It is possible, but not likely. There are SO many other reasons for miscarriages not limited to; stress, over exercise, uterine stimulants (like some herbal teas), chromosome disorders (like Downs), placenta not attached properly... and on and on and on.

I know how devastating it can be, I miscarried twins a few years back. I blamed myself and I didn't want to be in my own skin. As far as I was concerned at that point, my body had killed my children. It was horrible.

Just remember, that one night of binging is NOT normally a big deal - and if it was, the pregnancy would not have gone this far. Just think of all the things women are doing before they find out they are pregnant... and the majority of us are fine.

Its not your fault, consult your ob/gyn about possible causes and future risk. Then chat with a councilor. When you're ready, try or try again.

Good Luck!

No. At that point the embryo isn't fully attached to the mother's blood supply, so that's why if a woman does potentially harmful things that early on, nothing bad happens. Unfortunately it's impossible to know the reason behind a miscarriage, even though I know that doesn't make it any easier.

I'm sorry you're going through this. :(

Edit: After reading some of the other responses, I am appalled. Don't listen to them. Fetal Alcohol Syndrome occurs when a mother drinks heavily for most of the pregnancy. One time before you know you're pregnant isn't going to cause ill effects to the baby. I drank and smoked pot once before I knew I was pregnant, and my baby is fine. Like I said before, it's impossible to ever fully know the reason behind a miscarriage, though it's theorized that it's usually due to messed up genes or some other, impossible to fix problem with the embryo.

Just please remember: This miscarriage was *not* your fault.

Look sometimes no one knows why you miscarry. Things happen and it sucks when it does. I had one about 3 yrs ago and I did about the same thing and got a tatoo. They said that the baby had a DNA thing that wouldn't have let it live and that is why I misscarried. They can do test on the baby to see why it happen. Don't worry about it though. There are a lot of Dead Beat Moms out there that do worse than that the whole time and have kids that are fine. These happen 1 out of every 6 women. They are very common and just the bodys way of letting go of a bad baby. i know that sounds bad but it is really what is going on.!

I done the same thing at about 6 weeks (I didn't know I was pregnant either, I had NO idea) But I had never had a hang-over and never been sick while drinking. Plus it didn't take me but about 1/4 of a pint to make me sick which was strange. I was sick the whole next day... after 3 days passed and I was still sick and I hadn't had a period I took a test and it was positive. She is now going on 2. So I wouldn't think that it soley was caused by the drinking. Think about women who drank before we knew that drinking while pregnant was bad like in the 60's.... ya know? I know this one woman who waas drunk the day she had her son at 42 weeks... Don't htink it was something you done. God had a plan for that lil baby, and it wasn't staying on earth!
SOrry for your loss!

i don't know if that would have caused the baby to die.
i do know as i am sure you do that fetal alcohol syndrome is very serious and results in some very much damaged children.
i wont blame myself too much for this event as you were unaware that you were pregnant. truly the only one who knows the reason that this baby was called back is God.
i am sure if you are going to attempt to have another child that you will not consume any alcohol during the the time you begin attempting until well after the child is born.
i will pray for you . i will pray for the child but i am sure i don't really need to as God is a great father.

its is a definite possibility that this was what caused you to have a miscarriage. If the alcohol affected your baby's development, your body will get rid of it. Its sounds harsh but what happens. The average woman is actually pregnant 8-9 times in her lifetime, most of the time, you have a miscarriage before you even know you're pregnant.

It is possible, but then many other things could have been present, that may have contributed to the spontaneous miscarriage.

Now, wanting children or not, it is never a good idea to get crocked on anything, drugs or alcohol. Your capacity or rationality is seriously diminished and alcohol poisoning is a very real thing.

It could have but so could drinking herbal tea. There are several things that cause miscarriages and several unknown things that cause it. Don't feel bad. Hope you get a baby soon!

Yes. It doesn't happen with everyone...sometimes down syndrome in the fetus occurs instead.

I remember I had a similar incident...but, I was taking flu medicine instead. I lucked out...I was worried for quite a while. Teratogens have odd effects on the body.
