The signong statement reads:
"The executive branch shall construe subsection 404(c) of title 39, as enacted by subsection 1010(e) of the act, which provides for opening of an item of a class of mail otherwise sealed against inspection, in a manner consistent, to the maximum extent permissible, with the need to conduct searches in exigent circumstances, such as to protect human life and safety against hazardous materials, and the need for physical searches specifically authorized by law for foreign intelligence collection."
As I read it, all he says is that the govt reserves the right to open mail in accordance with existing law & if human lives are at stake. Is there anything new here? If there is, I missed it. I think it is much ado about nothing.

Do any of you ever check anything out before you rant on. The law that you are talking about has been around for decades and Bush was reestating it. It isn't a republican thing either. It actually happened a couple times under Clinton's watch and some of the others. They aren't going to bother you unless you give them reason to. Then you've brought it on yourself.
