Is it a good school for advertising, i have been hearing mixed answers.

SDSU is one of the top CA schools for business. Advertising is an one of the communication majors. Although, SDSU is very crowded and so it'll be hard getting classes (especially for business/communication majors). Other than that, SDSU does have great programs for Business or Communications field and its a great party school too.

They are a very good school for Business. Advertising is just one part of Business, but I don't think they are specifically known for Advertising.

I don't know about advertising, but it's a beautiful campus with many different majors. I really like the old Spanish architecture with the gardens and water-wise landscaping.
