what security did we have in shops in the 1980s when there was no cctv.

Employees were much more likley to stop a theif back then. Now they are actually told not to, it has to be a security gaurd on site to do anything about a thief. I am thinking due to Law Suites and other saftey issues.

Plus people aren't paid enough to get there butt kicked over a candy bar and a bottle of vodka in a parking lot scuffle.

cctv existed in the 1980s.

cctv was around then, just not popular, therer were reguler security guards, and what is called loss prevention agents(these are security dressed in plain clothes that catch thieves...I should know, I was one of them.,But not in the 80s)
For that girl that said the bloke head thing, how is it that I caught three a day, did I not blend in?

I worked in Herman's Sporting Goods in Willowbrook Mall in Wayne, NJ in the 80's and we had those sensor tags that were pinned on to the garment and removed at the register. If we had a customer that was especially mean we would "accidentally" drop one in her purse or bags that he or she was carrying so they would trip the alarm at the door. We were awful! Thanks for the trip down memory lane!!!
