IM CALLING MY DR. IN AN HOUR...JUST WOULD LIKE SOME ADVICE!!! PLEASE READ
about 5:30, (its now 7:19) i was walking through Wal-Mart and felt a contraction, but this time it actually hurt, and periodically i kept feeling more, while on my way home i could still feel them but it felt like sitting kind of slowed them down. They still seem to be coming ever five to ten minutes, but im only 30 1/2 weeks along, im not sure if there the real deal or not, i figured i would try taking a walk about 8:00 and if they dont ease off, then i would call my dr. to be on the safe side, am i right to do this???

Braxton Hicks contractions are usually eased up by walking. If that doesn't work for you, though, it's best to err on the side of caution and see a doctor. They can stop labor, and put you on bed rest for just a few more weeks, if you are in preterm labor.
Good luck to you, hun. All the best.

Yes. It could be the exercise you got while walking around in Wal-Mart that is causing the pains. Just kept track of the times of the pains, how long they last and how frequent they are just in case the don't seem to go away. If you still feel uneasy call your doctor's office and they will tell whether or not you need to go to the hospital. The best thing for you to do right now is to rest cause if you are in actual labor you will need you strength to deliver the baby. God Bless.

probably just having braxton hicks:
What are Braxton Hicks contractions?
Braxton Hicks are sporadic uterine contractions that actually start at about 6 weeks, although you won't be able to feel them that early. You probably won't start to notice them until sometime after midpregnancy, if you notice them at all (some women don't). They get their name from John Braxton Hicks, an English doctor who first described them in 1872.
As your pregnancy progresses, Braxton Hicks contractions tend to come somewhat more often, but until you get to your last few weeks, they should remain infrequent, irregular, and essentially painless. Sometimes, though, Braxton Hicks are hard to distinguish from early signs of preterm labor.
Play it safe and don't try to make the diagnosis yourself. If you haven't hit 37 weeks yet and you're having four or more contractions in an hour, or have any other signs of preterm labor, call your caregiver immediately.
By the time you're within a couple of weeks of your due date, these contractions may get more intense and more frequent, and cause some discomfort. Unlike the earlier painless and sporadic Braxton Hicks contractions that caused no obvious cervical change, these may help your cervix "ripen": gradually soften and efface, and maybe even begin to dilate a bit. This period is sometimes referred to as "pre-labor."

I would suggest taking it easy, drinking water, rather than trying to walk it off. When this happened to me I went to labor & delivery..I think I was 29 1/2 weeks and they told me it could have been Braxton hicks or true contractions since my baby had dropped and my cervix was effacing. They put me on a monitor and told me I needed to drink more water so they brought me like a huge pitcher of water with ice and told me to lie on my left side. The crampy contraction feelings stopped at that time.
Don't mess around surfing the web too much for answers, if you truly feel bad go to the emergency room. I didn't like having to spend 4 hours of my day their between being on the monitor for 2 hours and then waiting for the doctor to do the cervical exam but I suppose it was worth the peace of mind.

The best thing you can do (after you call the doctor) is to lie down and drink lots of water. Walking will prolly increase you contractions.
More than likely you are experiencing Braxton Hicks contractions. But, the possibility of real contractions do exist. Braxton Hicks contractions will generally subside with rest and fluids. (Being dehydrated can cause contractions, that's why water helps.)
So, talk to your doctor and inthe mean time, get comfy on the couch and drink you water. :)

Yes this could be preterm labor or it could also be false labor. Calling your doctor with any pain at this stage of pregnancy is always a good idea and if you cant get ahold of your doctor go to the er cause if you are in preterm labor you dont want anythign to go wrong at home. At a hospital they can save you and your child. I wish you luck and hope its all healthy

I am a mother of three boys. I went through this with my 3rd. When i called the doctor they told me to do the opp. of what I was doing. If I was standin, rest and vise versa. I would call your doc just to let them know. I think as long as they are not consistant you should be fine. If they become regular I would be concerned. Like I said, yoiu should call your doc and see what they say.. they might want you to go in so they can monior you and the baby. Good Luck!!

Since you are only 30 weeks along I would just call your doctor now. You never want to full around with preterm labor.

If you are only 30 1/2 wks then please don't go walking. You don't want a baby coming early, his lungs may not be developed. Babies lungs are fully developed at 36 wks. So please try to stop any contractions by getting off your feet, taking a warm bath, lying on your side. This is not the time for a walk.
