"I come to this debate, Mr. Speaker, as one at the end of 10 years in office on the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, where stopping the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction was one of my top priorities. I applaud the President on focusing on this issue and on taking the lead to disarm Saddam Hussein. ... Others have talked about this threat that is posed by Saddam Hussein. Yes, he has chemical weapons, he has biological weapons, he is trying to get nuclear weapons."

"As a member of the House Intelligence Committee, I am keenly aware that the proliferation of chemical and biological weapons is an issue of grave importance to all nations. Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process."

While she used powerful words in accepting the Speaker’s gavel that wrapped herself in the flag of God-fearing American patriotism, her deeds of the past speak far louder. Pelosi is pro-homosexual marriage, pro-abortion, even pro-partial birth abortion. She has voted against tax cuts, against the Patriot Act, against allowing the words “under God” to remain in the pledge of allegiance, and against allowing public displays of the Ten Commandments. She has voted against stopping illegal immigration. And Pelosi has worked to undermine traditional marriage, even by voting against the Defense of Marriage Act in 1996.
Pelosi closed her acceptance speech with a phrase associated with the Communitarian Network when she said, “Let us all stand together to move our country forward, seeking common ground for the common good.” The Communitarian Network is a self-described “coalition of individuals and organizations who have come together to shore up the social, moral and political environment…a nonpartisan, nonsectarian, transnational association."
Communitarian doctrine puts government above individual rights by developing democratic consensus often using moral issues.

As you can see there is a double standard here. When a democrat lies it is because of Bush (please note above answers) It almost sounds as if they are unable to think for themselves. The intelligence was the same as provided by Bill Clinton, the UN, Britain and others.
"In the next century, the community of nations may see more and more the very kind of threat Iraq poses now -- a rogue state with weapons of mass destruction ready to use them or provide them to terrorists, drug traffickers or organized criminals who travel the world among us unnoticed.
If we fail to respond today, Saddam and all those who would follow in his footsteps will be emboldened tomorrow by the knowledge that they can act with impunity, even in the face of a clear message from the United Nations Security Council and clear evidence of a weapons of mass destruction program."

Don't like to bust your bubble there, but you should know that Saddan did at one time have all those goodies, he was ordered to dismantle and cease production of same and according to the UN observerers he did. Bush did not believe Saddam or the observers and voila, here we are.

I'm not sure what is so noble about keeping the same mind set no matter what. If a war makes sense and looks winnable in the beginning but then becomes increasingly disastrous over the years, it makes sense to me that one could change ones mind about it. One man's consistency is another man's stubbornness.

You think that this is a change in her point of view? Wait until the next month or two passes and then count the number of times she will change her tune on EVERYTHING! She is a politician, but a dumb one.

Two things:
First, she made the mistake of believing Bush's falsified data...silly congresswoman believed not even a neocon republican president would lie to his people and to congress. She was wrong.
Second: it's a mark of intelligence to alter one's position in light of new data or evidence. It's a mark of stupidity to stick to the same dogmatic position despite new data or evidence that proves that position wrong. :)
Peace.
