i signed up for bmg music and gave them my visa gift card as credit card. They sent me a CD and said they charged about 3 dollars shipping and handling. I don't want any CDs at all! It says I need to buy a CD from them retail price to cancel my membership, but since they dont have my real credit card. Can I just ignore it? Will they still be able to charge me if they only have my visa gift card number which has no money in it my address and name?

Basically, what you've done is committed fraud...you signed a contract for services and gave the other party a bogus means of payment. That's called fraud, and it's a crime. However, I think your chances of getting prosecuted by BMG for this is slim to none.

As for just ignoring the bill...If you gave them your correct name and address, you're stuck. They'll simply bill you, and if you ignore the bill eventually they'll turn you over to collections, and there goes your credit record. If you gave them a fake name and address, you're in the clear.
