I used to swap back and forth. When I was using just a fork I would use my right hand and when I needed a knife I would hold the fork with my left hand. That was until I went to Europe for school and people would look at me really weird when I kept switching. Now I use the knife in my right hand and fork in the left always.

if it's a question of proper etiquette, the right way is to first cut the item using the knife in your dominant hand and then switching to eat with the dominant hand. never have two utencils in your hands at the same time while actually eating; place the knife down to take the bite. and never cut more than a few pieces at a time.
I don't know why, but that's what i was taught when i took the etiquette class. rich kid school...

I usually keep the fork in my right hand (my dominant) unless I need to cut a piece of food, then I switch the fork to my left hand.

in the experience that your appropriate surpassed carry your fork on your appropriate hand virtually like a pencil. in case you have chose to diminish meat with a knife, greater the fork to the left hand to hold it down. then use your appropriate hand to diminish the beef. once you have chose to consume the products positioned the fork back into your appropriate hand.

Yup. Wish I was more co-ordinated, but can only keep fork constantly in left hand and cut with right when I am really concentrating!! Hah! Then you can forget about scintillating conversation!! ;)

yes, I use my right hand to cut my food. Then I use my right hand to eat with. My husband thinks that is weird. He's a lefty and can do it without switching.
