i want to know what does ( red herrings) means??
i used dictionary to know what does this mean in my language but i couldn't het it.
canyou give me a sentence , maybe i can know what is it??

* In the animated series A Pup Named Scooby Doo, there was a bully character named Red Herring that Fred Jones insisted was behind every crime. Herring would show up after his accusation to prove that he wasn't involved, although he actually was the criminal in at least one case.

Bill telling Lydia that the keys were lost was the red herring. You find this in literature quite often as well. A plotline will lead a character in one direction when the real solution to or cause of the problem is completely different.
