Most of it is fiction. Even the author Dan Brown said that it was fiction loosely based on conspiracies. However, all fiction has some fact and that is why writers research their books.

In my opinion, it doesnt really matter what is fiction or what is fact in a novel. What matters is that I enjoy reading it.

Well, the main plot, that as you know it's in short that Jesus was not the Son of God, that he was just a good man, a preacher, but a common man, who had a wife and a daughter, right? that was the main plot, well THAT plot is false, a fiction, but the problem is that Dan Brown do not face that reality, he insists that what he says it's true. But when you bought it, did you find it on what category did you find it??? Fiction right?? Well, voila!!! there's your answer.
Now, at the beggining of the book, as you know, Brown says something like "every document, rite, (and something else I dont recall now) quoted in this novel is veracious", something like that right?? Well, some things that are true are regarding to paintings (though he cant prove that Da Vinci's ideas were those: that the "woman" seated beside Jesus in the Last Supper was Mary Magdalene, and even so, that doesnt mean it was tru, after all, Da Vinci was just a man, a painter, not a prophet. The secret organization The Priory of Zion, I've read that was really created after the World War II, some say that, and some support Brown, the fact is that the proofs do not exist yet.
The list Brown gives of the members is a fake also.

But the biggest nonsense of Brown's work, is that he expect us to believe that the Conceil of Nicea's objetive was deciding the divinity of Jesus, and that they made of the Bible whatever they wanted. Thta's false, because the bible is a recopilation of all the Ancient Evangelia, of the disciples, and many of those canons are still kept as a proof of it, they exist.

Dont believe in Dan Brown ideas, Da Vinci Code is full of lying crap, it's a good thriller, but it expects to teach history, and it doesnt really.

HEY PAL, LOOK AT THIS SITE BELOW, LIKE THIS ONE YOU'LL FIND HUNDREDS ONLINE, AND I GUARANTEE, THAT THIS INFORMATION BELOW DOES HAVE VERACITY. YOU'LL SEE HOW MANY MISTAKES BROWN COMMITED.

i just ran around my apartment looking for a book that i misplaced but if you check out borders or barnes and noble there have been all kinds of books recently as well a dvds on the subject.
one such dvd is the da vinci code explained. The catholic church has controlled so much of what we actually know about the person christ and the virgin mary. for political reasons and for control of religion. you can find lots of answers at google search as well a a religious library on a college campus. ALSO check out books on the history of the artist himself. A LOT ABOUT DA VINCI CAN explain how much of the movie is fact or fiction.
