Soap, particularly liquid dish soap, actually works very well. So well it has been deemed illegal by most racing organizations. It will really only last for about half a run though and over time will dry out your base to the point of damage but if you want to smoke your buddies at the very top of the hill (particularly in wet, slushy conditions) soap works pretty well

Dont use soap. Soap kills. Boards. Just fork over the 20-30 bucks and have the board shop at the mountain wax it. Get there early. If you want cheaper.. go to a Sports Chalet or Chicks. Not soap mannnnn....

Hey dude if you're that desperate, take a big candle and run the bottom of the candle over your snowboard. That's what my brothers and I do for our sleds in the winter, works great. Of course, I wouldn't wax my skis before races with a candle, but if you've resorted to using soap...

No. I don't think it would work since soap is not all made of wax. Try going to a place where they sell snowboards and ask them if they have any wax for your snowboard.

You could use soap, but then vagain, you wouldn't be waxing it, you'd be washing it because as soon as the snow/ice hits it, it'll be clean as a whistle.

NO. when the ice melts on it, it's going to do the opposite of what you intended for it to do. it's going to be way slippery.

the only time you should use soap on a board is to clean it, or if you are taking a bath with it. but most people dont have to clean theyre board and most people dont take baths with theyre board either

No, geeze, don't. Why would you risk hurting your board over something like that?
