In other words, was Darren McFadden really playing better this season, so far, than him? Obviously no one was going to beat Smith.

I don't think he should because of he is inconsistency of throwing good passes. He can be very good but he can't always. To be a top player you must always be good. Troy Smith might through some Ints. but he can always come out on top. But Brady Quinn can't win any big games. And he is Notre Dames team so if he isnt doing good the team isn't so no I don't think he deserves 2nd. Maybe Mcfadden or Steve Slayton but not Brady Quinn I'm sorry.

Darren McFadden by far had the better highlight season, but for leading the Irish and being the heart and soul on an otherwise lackluster team he definitely deserved second. Troy Smith just happened to have both, the great highlights and leading the number one team to the championship game. It's a shame that Colt Brennan (QB for Hawaii) didn't get more looks, that kid is a stud! 559 yards and 5 TD's in his last game, not to mention 58 TD's in a season- awesome!

Definitely not....there are alot of better players than Quinn out there that deserved the Heisman. Just because he has good looks weighs in more with the media. The quarterback from Hawaii (who threw for over 500 yds in their bowl game) probably deserves a shot at the Heisman than Quinn.

I think now you could say McFadden may have deserved 2nd, but before the LSU game, no one really questioned Brady being #2. Based on his numbers to date, he was deserving. If McFadden hadn't been hurt at the beginning of the year, I think he would easily have been 2nd.

In the long run does it really matter, all that matters to me is who won, i dont care who lost. And just because someone wins or doesnt win the doesnt mean anyhting about how theyl play in the NFL, just look at 1997/98 heisman race, Charles Woodson beat out Randy Moss and Peyton Manning, and he has had an average career in the NFL while the other two hav had exceptional careers.

Second? Hell, he didn't deserve the third he got.
