If you had mastitis (a breast infection) you'd have a fever and flu-like symptoms.

Maybe a plugged duct? Try applying heat and massaging that area and see if it clears up. Massaging it in a warm shower can help.

I see by your other questions this must be a 3 day old baby you need to call your doctor or your lactation nurse at the hospital where you gave birth it could just be as simple as a milk gland or to an infection call them they probably be able to answer over the phone.

The 3 year old baby shouldn't be breastfeeding since they can eat and drink on their own. Or do you mean 3 month old?
If you found a lump on your breast, go to a doctor.

I breastfed my son till he was 2 years old and then he weaned himself. 2 years old is the cut off limit for me.

The same thing happened to me, it was a cyst, that had to be drained, but my doctor did think that it might have been caused by a plugged duct. But like I said she just made in incision and drained it, and i had no problem after that. So I would see your doctor right away, good luck!

If you are just now breastfeeding a three year old then, no that is not normal.

The painful lump is probably from the kid pinching you b/c you are trying to breastfeed him.
