got to admit i agree with this. i used to give to rspca then i had kids i give to nspcc. (direct debit) i still like animals but children really are more important. look at brazillian street kids sniffing glue to take them away from reality. an animal cant feel the same. yes i know it feels pain the same and i still like them as i said but children! they are so much more let down.

Are you saying we only give money to animals and not to people .no that's not true i might be wrong but i allways thought most people here were generous in giving to any charity
Even a lot of people that say things about foreign people and whinge all the time about paying for others out of there tax if there is an appeal because of some disaster or famine don`t think twice about putting their hand deep in their pocket and giving as much as they can even if they really can`t afford to
disaster relief on the TV nearly allways gets more from the public than the government give I don`t ever have spare money that i don`t need for bills or clothes for my kids but i make a point of putting something in every charity box i see if its for people animals or ecology .They all matter.

Brits give money to a very diverse range of charities, whether it be starving kids or animal cruelty. The money should quite rightly be shared around, there are too many countries NOT giving enough. We give generously in many other ways too, eg. taxes, which also go towards people coming to our country for various reasons who haven't paid taxes. We can only do so much in rip off Britiain, considering the cr*p wages we get for the long hours we put in and we still find ourselves paying out right left and centre for all sorts of charity cases.

You are wrong in suggesting it is either/or, this is a silly way to reason. Children starve worldwide, whether we feed them or not. Animals also suffer and feel pain. People have always, and will always, starve. Vast sums of money are directed towards famine relief, bloody HUGE amounts, medical aid, educational aid, water for drinking, schools, and countless clinics, agricultural schemes, self help, environmental, financial, and still more is needed. If people give their money away, why should you tell them where to put it? Be grateful that people give time and money to charity, ANY charity.

More people support child charities than animal ones - and look what 'Red Nose Day' collects.
Child charities are mostly supported by Government help - virtually no animal charities are, they depend on contributions from the likes of us - not you obviously.
The British government gives millions to overseas children's charities (most for Africa) - but too many of these African authorities are corrupt and only a tiny amount gets to where it's needed - the majority of it is 'skimmed off' by officials.
I'd rather give to help animals.

Brits and most of the west contribute millions to kids and people worldwide and if they want to contribute to animals too then why shouldnt they, they're part of the planet too and their lives wrecked by humans. Most people I know give to a mixture of charities. Get off your high horse, dont make assumptions and dig your own hands in your own pockets for a change.

I agree with the question but we are a nation of animal lovers and some people see fit to give their hard earned cash to the plight of animals which is their prerogative

well, theres always gonna be people collecting money for one cause or another, and its all just a matter of your order of priorities, which in this case puts children below animals
dont lay the blame on the people collecting money, regular people give their own money to the cause

I tend to agree with you! Whilst it is ok to give to animal charities, I think it is more important to get things into perspective. It is important to give to animals, but not when it is at a detriment to the children.
