It was a comedy about the World Cup from a Scottish point of view. It had lines like "Aah one of the immortals - course he's dead now" and (talking about the '78 world cup) "Peru. Iran. Scotland. Holland. The initials would spell how the team was to play."

I remember it from my childhood unfortunately my Grandad taped over it. Anyone know how I can get a copy or just confirm the existence of such a program? Or any links to websites where I might have more luck. Thanks.

contact BBC Scotland or ITV Scotland, they will have archives, both links are below.

send them a simple email or better still call them up and ask for the archives department, you`ll be sure (I`m sure) to get a hold of it... .

best of good luck in your quest!

I remember this program - I had it on VHS for a few years, but video being video, it didn't tape very well and i ended up recording over it. I thought it was really good, it was kind of a link between Naked Video and Only an Excuse. As I recall, it went over Scotland's World Cup history like a documentary, but obviously in a comedic way. It would be great if someone could stick it on Youtube!

PS: as I recall, it was aired DURING the World Cup, just before Scotland got put out. I think Tony Roper or Jonathan Watson did the narration in a Hugh McIlvanney style.
