Start being positive! for instance - my boss said I terrify him with my positive attitude. I was not always like this I still get down but I fight it. My boss thinks - I'm the kind of person that would call from an ambulance to tell him "Hi Bill I just fell off a roof. I'm OK I only broke both legs and have a rod through my right lung, but at least I have two lungs". I would not do that, remember you can't use Cell phones in Hospitals well I think it goes for ambulances too. : )

Basically make a joke out of anything, learn to turn things around, if something is said that bothers you remember it is only a word, then use your wit to strike back and make it funny.

Think of all the things that make you most happy in all the different parts of your life. Think of what makes you happy at work, at school, at home. Think of what you like to do and call up your best friends and have a day out, enjoying yourself and forgetting your problems. Think of the little meal or snack or dessert that is your favorite, and make it for yourself or buy it, no matter if you're trying to eat healthy or whatever. If you're in an overall sad mood, just think of the LITTLE everyday things that you get cheer out of it. Big events don't need to happen to make you happy.

One of the most effective ways to combat gloominess could be watching those late night infomercials by the charities that solicits donations for hungry children. It will give you the opportunity to compare your life with the ones featured on TV.

At that instant, thank your destiny that you are so much better off than them. You will know that the thing you are sad about is very likely trivial compared to the grave future those kids face.

I am a stress eater so I eat everything in sight! I have actually been losing weight even though my life is full of Stress right now. I talk on the phone to ppl. Play games on the Wii helps to take my mind off things I guess just stay busy. I guess you have to find little things that help you.

I listen to good music, John Denver , the Beatles, sixties motown stuff, Peter Paul and Mary. I sing along with the music. I read uplifting books by Wayne Dyer, DeePak Chopra, Marianne Williamson. Generally tho I've got a great support network of good friends online and offline who are there for me.

If the sadness continued for many weeks I'd go talk to my family doc, get an appointment for a counsellor and whatever meds might help.

I'd also consult with my pastor , priest, rabbi, imam and talk with him/her about why I'm sad and what I can do about it.

Read the Psalms and think about how many people have it worse than me (like people in North Korea) Start a list with the good things in my life on one half and the bummers on the other side. Watch "It's a Wonderfull Life"

Personally, I do 1 of 2 things: I either watch a funny movie/tv show or I get myself angry. The latter is a bit rough, so I suggest watching something or someone that always makes you laugh and brings a smile to your face.

If you need a laugh, you can e-mail me. Sometimes I get sarcastic, but I do my best to make it good-natured sarcasm.

be around the ones who love me and realizing that I am not the only one that is sad in the world. Look outside of your world and look at the true pain there is among poorer nations.

You could also go volunteer at a local shelter and help people.

Sounds strange, but I give myelf a pep talk..I scold myself when needed, or I just tell me to let it go, you have a family to look after and in 6 months, it wont be so raw or sad. I cry, that helps. Just having my hubby hold me helps. But it's importtant to allow myself the time to feel sad.

I sometimes have to remind myself of how blessed I am to have a family, a home, a job or whatever! I ask Jesus to work something through me, and then ask forgiveness for feeling ungrateful for the good things I have.
