No real reason. But its a colour that contrasts well with other colours on the screen, and it has a warmer look than the obvious alternatives, which would be white or beige.

Because Matt wanted his cartoon to stand out boldly whenever anyone was switching through their TV channels(channel hopping), against all the other programmes showing on the other channels,he said this was the reason on a TV documentary shown in the UK afew years back.

I actually know this one! The Simpsons, when they started, were to be yellow as a joke. The creator *or whoever* thought it would be funny for the people who watched it to see the characters yellow, and think that the color settings were wrong on their TV. So the unsuspecting audience would get up, fidget with their settings to try to get the Simpsons characters to the every day peach we are used to. It's funny, odd, and yet true.

Obviously, they're not human. They have four fingers and who wears the same clothes every single day? Bart, Lisa, and Maggie's hair is the same color as their skin, and want 8- year old girl wears a strap-less dress? And- Marge's hair is tall and blue. If anything else, it would be called a wig. It's just weird.

The Simpsons are Yellow because marketing showed that the colour of their skin was more likely to make people stop channel surfing when viewers saw it.
