That really would not be a smart thing to do. Do you know why you get one? It is not for just going to the bathroom. When you have major abdominal surgery there is a high risk of the doctor cutting your bladder by accident because it is right next to your uterus. So they put a catheter in to prevent you from having a additional problem of a bladder with a cut in it. Just do yourself a favor get the catheter it is really not a big deal and it is not painful.

Why would you want to? You will have no control over your bladder during that time. It doesn't hurt. You'll feel some pressure when they put it in. That is it. Also, after the surgery you cannot move for a number of hours. My first one I was not allowed to move until the next day. Keep in mind that the lower half of your body will be numb for awhile. Your body still needs to relieve itself. Wouldn't you rather have the catheter than be peeing all over your bed and having the nurses have to change you?

No cause you won't be able to walk after having a c-sectin right away. You will not be able to lift yourself upon a bedpan. You can handle getting a catheter if you can handle a c-section. I had a c-section and had a catheter too. I know it hurts but and it is uncomfortable but that will be the least of your worries cause the pain from your c-section will be keeping your mind off of that.
Good luck and Congrats
P.S. Tell them before they put the catheter in you to numb it with lidocaine.

I had my second delivered via c-section at 8:45 in the morning. I was not able to even think about standing until the next day. In my honest opinion I was in a lot of pain so the last thing I wanted to do was worry about having to get up to go to the bathroom.
The cath sounds scarier than it really is. Mine did not bother me at all.

Probably not, as they are trying to keep the surgical field clean, and you will be unable to urinate while having surgery and in early stages of recovery. Your bladder could rupture or become distended while they are in your abdomen. It's not that big a deal.

I understand why you would want too. But no. I think that they will insert one whether you like it or not. I had one. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I had my c-section about 6pm and they removed it when I told them too at about 3am. (after I got some rest and could get up to go to the bath room. BUT I did insist they bring me my baby!

You'll want it for after the c-section-trust me. It only hurts a minute while they put it in.

I would certainly ask your doctor about this one. Prolly not since you have no control over your lower body functions

people please its not so much about possibly peeing everywhere as it is the medical staff needing to see and measure your urine output to make sure your kidneys aren't shutting down. among other things. its medically a good idea to consent to it even tho its not pleasant.

I suppose you can, but you don't have control over your bladder, so it would be pretty messy.
Doesn't make sense not to have one.
