No, Honey, it won't hurt. A general anesthetic just puts you to sleep and you won't know or feel anything during your surgery. Don't be afraid of being put to sleep, there will be a special doctor called an Anesthesiologist looking over you the whole time making sure that you are absolutely safe. You'll probably meet him before you go into surgery. You're mommy will be allowed to stay with you until you go into surgery and she will be there when you come out. The doctors and nurses will be right there with you the whole time and your Mommy will be right outside the room. When my son had his tonsils out, they let me spend the night with him, too. You'll be fine and won't have to worry about your tonsils anymore. Feel better, Sweetheart, doctors and nurses love children and they will take such good care of you along with your mommy.

I had my appendix out on december 8 after it had burst. The operation was very easy. There was a slight pricking (fraction of a second) fot the IV drip and I was out like a light. The 3 hour operation was over with in what seemed to take only 5 minutes. I am a person who needs a double dose of pain killer when I have my teeth drilled at the dentists. You will look back and wonder why you bothered worrying about having your tonsils out. :)

It does not hurt and all you basically do it is fall into a deep sleep. You may expeierience wierd dreams and or thoughts while you are under but this is all normal. You won't feel a thing nor will you wake up in the middle of your proceedure. Unfortunaly, mom has to wait in the waiting room until it is over but when they wake you up she can be there. Don't worry it is nothing to be scared about. You will wake up a bit groggy but other than that you will be treated like a queen for a few days after and you can eat all the ice cream you want!

It will not hurt. They may give you an iv. They will put it in there and you will just fall asleep. You won't feel anything during the surgery and you will wake up in the recovery room. Your mom will likely stay in there until just before they take you into surgery and she'll be there when you wake up. My daughter had her tonsils out. Your throat will be sore but, you'll do fine. Don't be scared. This is probably the most common procedure ever done.

Nothing hurts about a general anaesthetic, but it sure will without one. It feels like nodding off, then you're awake and the tonsils are gone. Let it be easy. Ask the doctor about your mom staying with you, unless she can't handle watching surgery. Many people can't, you know.

Don't be scared kiddo . I was 6 when I first went under , then 15 , and then 17! The nurse described it as 'magic wind' and that is a decent way to put it. It did not hurt , without the general it would. Your mum can't go in with you , no one exept the surgery staff can be there only for strict hygene procedure. When i was 6 they let me take a soft toy in .

You have nothing to worry about. They did this to me once, when I was to have my wisdom teeth out. A long complicated procedure fraught with pain and peril...and I didn't feel a thing. I'm not sure if they are going to gas you or give you a drip, but the gas didn't even smell, and as for the drip...

I'm terrified of needles, ok? To the point that when I give blood to the red cross, they have to hide the things. The needle they used for the IV drip to put me out was TEENY. Didn't even know it was in until the nurse told me it was ok the quit freaking out.

They made me count down from 10 to 1. I made it to 7. Next thing I know, they have me cleaned up and I am getting out of the chair. Literally...there was NOTHING between them putting me under and me waking up. Very restful. No pain, no fear, no noise, no smell...

So don't worry. You'll be more then fine.

My daughter had tubes in her ears when she was 3 she is now 5 i was able to stay with her and i was actually the one who held the mask on her face until she "fell asleep" I am not sure if this is because she was so young, ask your doctor who knows he might let your mom stay with you. The only pain you might feel is a slight pick when the IV goes in, and at that they do that once you are asleep with the gas, be sure to ask some questions when you meet with the doctor. Good luck sweetie you will be fine.

No, I'm sorry but your mom won't be able to stay with you. Don't worry, it'll be a breeze. They'll put an IV in your arm, and they'll probably put a drug in there to make you drowzy. You'll either go to sleep then, or they'll put a special type of mask on you in the surgery room to make you go to sleep. Don't be scared. You'll do ok. Email me or IM me when you get home and tell me how you're doing. Best of luck to you.

First, if you are taken into a regular operating room, your mom won't be able to stay with you.

The only pain that you may feel is the insertion of an IV into your arm. If you get a good nurse, you will barely even feel that.

My main advice is to just listen to your Doctor(s) and tell them about your fears of being knocked out. They will listen.
