i have a removable shower head in which the base resently broke. so i got a new base, but it didn't come with a screen in it. now the water doesn't seem to have as much pressure and isn't as hot as it used to be. i was wondering if that was the problem. thanks

The screen is to keep the jets from clogging, shower heads differ greatly. Most have a restricter to save water, I recommend some generic type of shower massage because people differ greatly on the type of shower spray they want and these are infinitely adjustable, but they have nothing to do with temperature, except the spray may be so fine that it is cooling before it hits.

I found the screen helps with catching the debris in the water and from the pipes. Taking the screen out and cleaning it from time to time increased the water pressure somewhat since it was getting filled up with yucky stuff. I never experienced a difference in the water temp when it was clean or not. Adjust h2o tank to a hotter temp.

The screen matters because the more blockage you have for your water flow the greater the water pressure. Also it might be not as hot because its taking longer to hit your body (hence the lack of water pressure) which gives it time to cool down. I know its not much time, but when I moved and had crappy water pressure I noticed it was also not as hot.

Shower heads and faucet aerators are rated for gallon flow per minute. You probably bought a 2.0, 2.2, or 2.5 flow showerhead where you were used to a full flow usually rated at 5gpm..

keep the screen in (unless you used the screen for something else) hint hint but for more pressure there is a limiter that you can usualy pull out to get optimal pressure

the screen airates the water and makes it less harsh coming out of the faucet
