I need an acne reliever. Something that really works, not just something you got off a flimsy advertisment. And please, I don't want very expensive stuff...I want it to REALLY work and I want PERSONAL EXPERIENCE.

Here's what I do...first of all I use ProActive Solution (like you see on TV) everyday, so I don't got breakouts very often anymore, but when I do this is how I treat it:

Take a STEAMING hot washcloth to the area and hold it there until it is cool, repeat every 10 minutes for an hour. Wash with your favorite acne cleanser (like I said, I use proactive) then apply a thin layer of rubbing alcohol. If you'd like you can also use a topical cream.

I have an acne treatment that has won me the best answer better then fifteen times. Often, the person who voted it the best answer was amazed at how well it worked, even those who had severe cases of acne. I'll copy and paste it below.

Use a hot compress on it, and then use cool water to close the pores. Do the process over and over again, about five or six times. Use soap to wash the area, and then treat it with an alcohol soaked cotton ball. It should be gone within five to six hours.

Here are some of the previous comments I got from those who voted it as the best answer,

HI,
I'm an esthetician and I was horrified by advice people gave to you here.
Acne - means sensitive most of the time inflamed skin - sometimes extremely sensitive and inflamed, so who in their clear mind will put Hot on inflamed and sensitive?
Cool Green Tea compresses very helpful to bring down inflammation (but no ice please).
Alcohol? NEVER... Anybody I know who try to tread their self’s with alcohol and went from light acne to worth ever. Instead of alcohol better use Iodine (water based - can buy in ant Pharmacy) - apply it right on top of each "head" with Q-tip in the evening before go to bed.
Soap? - No soap!!!! Face wash with Salicylic Acid ok. Soap change pH of the skin (breaking natural barrier of the skin) and makes it more sensitive and unprotected to all kind of bacteria, weather etc.
About advertisement you right - jars of those creams cost more then ingredients inside them...
Diet is also important - if you eat greasy and spicy food - no meter what you do you will never get rid of acne.. Eat more vegetables and fruits, see food, rice, grain, more herbal teas (without caffeine) and drink a lot of water, juices etc. Stay away from chocolate, caffeine, alcohol (!!!), cigarettes... It's all can aggravate your sensitivity and make you break out more.
Take vitamins and supplement - especially - Vit.A, C, E, Selenium, Zink, Echinacea.
Most of the time acne connected to digestive problems or to hormones (I don't know your age and your health history), so to get rid of something on face may mean that you need to fix something inside.
My advice to everybody with acne - don't try to do it all your self!!! There is so many good estheticians out there - find one and ask for acne program, believe me they will make it up special for Your skin and Your problems and lead you from the beginning to the end till it's gone...
I could give you here only general advices, sorry - without seen your skin condition cannot recommend more...
You ask to speak out somebody with experiences - well I believe I have more then anyone else here answering your question - I'm dealing with it every day - it's my job :)
Contact me if you have questions.

Roaccutane cured my brother's and my sister's acne completely, and almost immediately. Check it out for yourself and ask your doctor.

It can sometimes have side effects though - my sister was fine, but my brother suffered from mood swings and, ahem, erectile disfunction.
