they said my network adaptor would only connect with a bellsouth router but i can connect to my wireless g linksys wrt54g router,why can i if they said it only works with a bellsouth router?

Because they either didn't explain it correctly or just didn't know what they were talking about. If you have a wireless USB adapter then I'm about 100% sure it's a standard 802.11b/g adapter and will be able to associate to any 802.11b/g router or access point, as long as the security credentials match... Or by default if there's no security. With some configuration, of course you COULD make it so that the USB adapter ONLY associates to your bellsouth router, but that doesn't mean it cannot work with others. That's what "WiFi Certified" is all about, interoperability among vendors so Linksys and Netgear and Dlink and others can all play in the same sandbox together (for the most part :-)
