i dont understand; maybe she is being stubborn or the deadbeat doesnt pay...

in any case, she needs a child support court order to collect support. if she isnt getting support then she needs to put some heat on the case.

1) if the case worker isnt on the ball, contact the regional federal CS office (in writing only) and ask what they can do about it. usually they put the heat on the case.
2) make sure the money owed is put on his credit reports.
3) if his arrears are high enough, his tax refunds can be taken (state and federal); its called tax refund intercept.
4) take his driving lisense away

she needs to contact the local Legal Aid Office; they are in every state and most counties. they go on a sliding scale, so its free to most. look in the phone book or contact your county court clerks office and ask if they have it. if no luck, call your states Bar Assoc for it.

they will know what to do and do it.

here are some links to help her. one is a CS calculator; just click on your state and fill it in. THAT is the general amount she would recieve in child support.

the last few links, are to help.

1) the redcross sometimes has cheap cars to help
2) the salvation army helps with EVERTHING.
3) contact the board of public utilities and ask what programs they have for low income families. usually its electric, gas, heat and sometimes phone.
4) contact all area churches and find out where the food banks are. go once a week. this will help free up funds for electric (or whatever).
5) tell her to post his deadbeat face on a deadbeat site online.

tell her to stay strong and stand her ground. if she needs grant, scholarship money info, email me, i have tons of them i have found.

That is very impressive and I hope she will do well in the future, but I believe that once a child reaches the age of 21 the are adults in the eyes of the law and cannot collect child support. However, maybe if the father never payed there could be some back child support payment she can sue for. You need to contact any child services or government offices in you area to see what she is entitled to.
Good Luck

My sister in law is in this situation, her's is a little different she has 1 and their dad has 2. The courts stated that she had to pay him money, but only on one child, due to him having 2. I guess you need to talk with your attorney, because if you each have a child, then neither one pays chid support to the other. And several others things will change from the original agreement.

She should go to the local child support agency and look into for herself. Did her mother receive it in the past. Should have. If not he might be owing back years of support. She doesn't need her mother to help her do it now. You should also see what information in on the interet. Local goverment agencies that might be able to help her. Good luck.

the person who had custody of the child has to file for it, if the dad never paid support, was there a court order for support on the dad? has she gone to her dad and asked him for his help? maybe all this could be resolved without bringing it into the court system. but i do know the one who had custody would have to be the one who files it. wouldn't hurt to get some advice from an attorney, think the first consultation is free.

I am not sure of the question. The child support case will have to be filed by the mother of the child, No one else can do it. I am not sure if that was the answer you were looking for.

Try talking to someone in child support enforcement in your state. It would depend on what the age for child support is in your state. That would be your best avenue,I feel .......good luck and congrats on working to get yourself a better life.

The child support belongs to the mother, not the child.
