I know a guy who owns a vehicle transporting business. He needs a dispatcher to communicate with his shipping trucks.
How much do dispatchers usually start out at?
I want my boyfriend to get the job, but only if it pays enough.
He has experience in dispatching, but not with this paticular kind.

Unless that business has Bargaining Unit employees (a.k.a. - a Union) there would be no set guarantee, other than minimum wage (Federal at the least, your state's rate at the most), if the services are just to the general public.

If the services are provided to the gov't on a contractual basis, then what's called Wage Determination dictates how much a dispatcher gets paid. It is applicable to the county in which the services are provided. If these services are contracted to the gov't and there is a Union in place, Union rates tend to be higher than Wage Determination rates.

A good way to find out what might be a decent rate to request is to go to http://www.hotjobs.com and use the Salary tool to determine that best rate for your area. Or for your local Wage Determination rate, you can utilize this site http://www.wdol.gov/
