Hello everyone, I own a 1992 Honda Civic Si with the stock d16z6 engine. I will need a new exhaust before it runs and I was wondering if I could get some opinions on which exhaust kit would be good. The car will be driven by me, a 16 year old. I plan on using it just for daily use, but I would like it to sound mean!! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks for your time!!

Mean doesn't always have to = loud

There are tons of great exhaust companies, so you have your choice. Greddy and HKS exhusts are quaility, but cost $$$$. And 5Zigen and Tanabe are your import finests, but cost even more $$$$.

A good low tone Greddy muffler sounds evil on low reving Honda's. Quaility exhaust and a really deep note that will get heads turning, but will keep the cops moving.

Cat-back exhausts are from the CC back, which means that pretty much what they do is make your car sound different. What I'd do is keep your stock exhaust and bring it to an exhaust shop after you buy one (or two) resonators and then get a muffler in the "silencer" category" as low sounding cars will draw less attention from cops and everyone with a loud exhaust is hated with a passion on the roads. Plus, after about a month or so, you'll hate having a loud exhaust, it sucks trust me.

If you want something that came out around the same time your car did, you might wanna consider:

5 Zigen

HKS

RSR

Trust

Those were all the top brands for that car back in the day. Myself personally had a 5-Zigen exhaust with DC headers.

And seeing that they were from way back, Im sure you can get a good deal on Ebay for one of them.

I hope this helps!

custom pipe and muffler of ur choice. if ur car isn't very low, do a straight pipe. an exhaust system u buy will have bends to get from one side of the car to the other and then over the lower control arm of the rear right wheel, then finally out the muffler. custom will go straight down the middle of the car then slant up and out for a total of just one bend! max flow for max power especially if u swap motors in the future.

Just go to your local exhaust shop and have them up the pipe from the cat back then buy one of there mufflers or one online and have them weld it for you.

use a glass pack muffler, if you want noise, but make sure you meet the legal requirements in your state. some states won't allow certain types, while others will. also. you'll have a catalytic converter so make sure you don't use something that will cause it to malfunction.
