the nurse took me into the exam room and told me to lay on the exam table which i did. She put on gloves and said shed be right back with a thermometer. Without any notice I felt someone pull on my thong and she jabbed a thermometer up my butt. Is this common practice? Isnt this wierd?

Um, wow, no warning. Yea, it would freak me out to. Normal nurses and doctors stuff the thermometer in your mouth or use one that measures your temp on the forehead. Good ethics call for telling you they are going to take your temp via your butt and why.

It's weird that the nurse didn't give you an option or any warning! If nothing else, she needs to work on her bedside manner. I'd think about either visiting another doctor or asking that she not be assigned to me again!

Some jab there finger in there to check your prostate gland, you came out better off with only a thermometer.

they use rectal thermometers for kids and infants she wud have to do optic or oral

no it isn't weird, she was checking your temp and rectal temperatures are most accurate. HOWEVER, she should have warned you so your anus would not have been shocked as hell when she put a thermometer up there without notice.

That NEVER happened to me for any kind of physical that is just weird you need a new doctor.

DEFINTELY weird. I would start seeing a different doctor, especially if you felt uncomfortable bout it.
