What kind of car? Year? Make? Model? Looking to swap the transmissions yourself or have a professional do it? If you plan to do it yourself, do you have the proper tools and equipment to do it? Truth is, there will be a lot more to the whole operation than simply swapping out the old transmission and inserting the new one. You are also looking at installing the cluth, clutch pedal, possibly requiring modifications to the center console to accomodate the movements of the manual shifter. Need more information in order to answer the question. But then again, depending on the car, you may be better off just buying a new one rather than attempting this.

I have yet to see the car that this is not completely impractical on.
You're looking at $1000's of dollars.
Your best bet is to sell whatever you have and buy the same thing with a manual transmission. It will be much cheaper and trouble-free that way.
Depending on the car, you could have to replace the entire ECU along with the transmission. Unless it is some 30 year old classic car that is simple as a rock and you have $1000's for your project you should just forget it. Seriously.

Wellllll... very. Look into what you will need to go from auto to manual.
1) Flexplate will need to be changed to a flywheel, clutch and pressureplate
2) the trans it-self
3) linkages...shift and clutch
4) pedals...somehow you need to figure out how to mount a clutch pedal under the dash of a car/truck that was never designed to have one.
5) drive shaft will probably be different length
6)transmission mount would probably have to be re-located as manual trans are usually shorter (see drive shaft above)
7) hacking a hole in the floor for a shifter..
all in all it is really too much of a bother, requires a lot of time and tools and not for the inexperienced....cheaper to just purchase a car that is already manual....
Easier to go from manual to auto....

Perhaps nothing if you can find someone willing to trade their manual for your automatic.
If you are talking about just changing it in your vehicle, it's next to impossible to do without a great deal of trouble and money.

depends on what all you have to do, but it will be expensive. much depends on the vehicle and the drive train requirements to get everything to work properly. labor to do the work will e the most expensive, but the tranny will cost some as well. it is not an easy job and is time consuming if you do it yourself especially if you don't know how and don't have the proper equipment.

About $2,000.00. You can save yourself alot ofaggrevation by just trading it for the same make, model and year.
