It depends on how you look at it. If you think it's easier because there are less notes maybe. I play both and it really all comes down to technique. If you want to play mostly single notes at a time slowly than bass would be much easier but if your talking about popping and slapping which requires more intense hand technique then bass can be much harder as it requires more hand strength. On the other hand if you want to play guitar like Yngwie Malmsteen playing all 64th notes then guitar would be much harder. It depends on what window you are looking in.

Your average guitar is 6 strings, (EADGBE) and your average bass is 4 strings (EADG). The bass's notes would be an octave lower than the guitar's. I think that you should learn acoustic guitar first. This would make it easier to pick up an electric guitar, and if you were interested, a bass. Drums are a totally different subject, and you should only try that if you have good rhythm. There is no "easier" instrument, because the guitar has an infinite number of chords, bass is just....hard, and drum rudiments (and such) can get difficult as well. However, on a beginner level, I would recommend the guitar, because it would be easier to play songs familiar to you on the guitar than if you were to play bass or drums. Either way, all three instruments are rewarding and fun to play, so good luck!

No, there's no difference between electric guitar and bass guitar. In fact, both parts used to be played on the same instrument. Most bands in the 50's had a good guitarist and a mediocre one. The good guitarist would play all the melodies, solos, etc, and the bad guitarist would play the "bass" part which usually consists of the same four quarter notes played again and again. Over time, guitar manufacturers realized that the six strings on the regular guitar were wasted on the average bass player, so they just chopped two of them off to save money.

Well, I play both, and I think bass is easier, even though they're both really fun to play. In bass, you harmonize with the melody, and play with the beat of the song, and it's really fun. I started out with electric guitar, then played bass after I played electric for a year, and I think that helps you learn how to move your fingers quickly, which is important for bass...I love playing both kinds though!

With a bass you play one string at a time. I have never seen a bass player strum the strings.
With six string guitars you play 4-6 strings at once so I think a six string is harder.
The exception is playing lead guitar because they tend to have a talent to "pick" and in this case they would be fairly comparable but then again they learn chords and strumming first.

Some people think that seeing as how they've only heard bass like a monotous-like instrument no real melody but bass can be just as hard take Flea from RHCP as an example he is a great bassist and his stuff isin't as easy to play as just a normal bass line, Geddy Lee is one of the best rock bassist out there and well if you've heard him you know he rocks and well it's just how you look at it. Cliff Burton (R.I.P.) was a great bassist and could pull off a mad solo like a guitarist. So it's all how you play it if you just want to be a normal bassist then yeah it's easier, but it's all how you play it.

it depends. if ur in a band wich has a guitar its harder to play bass because the guitar plays melody, and bass is the harmony or the beat wich is hard because you hear the melody more.

They're two different instruments that require different chords and techniques. One could assume that since the guitar has two more strings than a bass, it would be harder, but it also depends on your learning ability and musical talent.

bass is easier for the most part...fewer strings, less complicated music (most of the time)

guitar...more difficult for the most part

however, the bass player needs to keep rhythm. if you have none. try guitar.
