My Palm lifedrive has froze on the please wait screen. Ideas???

My life drive is froze on the please wait screen as I was tring to transfer a txt file from an SD card. It stayed like that for 15 min. I removed the card and it is still on that screen. I can not even turn it off. I have tried to plug in the power cord but still no luck. it is still on that screen.

If I reset the device will I loose all of my stored and or saved data?
