You are never too old.

I started my PhD program when I was 45. I got my PhD in Finance from Berkeley just before turning 49.

Actually it depends on :

1- The student him or herself
2- The study program ((medicinal, scientific, arts .. etc ))
3- The amount of references or tests in the thesis

I know student get their Ph.D. at age of 33 and he was studying old languages program so the range of the Ph.D study for Arts is (( 27 - 35 years old)).

but in the medicine school this period takes much longer time due to the experiments and tests and usually range would be (( 35 - 45 years old ))

Why should there be ageism?

I've known tons of people that have multiple Ph.Ds....that just goes to show their intelligence and motivation.

This can help reduce alzhiemers and other brain disorders....

If I had the time and money....I'd love to get a couple PhDs.

Agreed with the first person. You are never to old to be a student in life.

I really don't think it's ever too late to start. However, the older you are, the harder it might be to start.

As long as you are well and healthy, it should be alright.
