Miami has had nine Super Bowls including this year's in February, along with New Orleans' nine. How come the league doesn't put them in the harsh snow of Green Bay or Philly to have them tough it out like the old days?

For the same reason that the vast majority of college bowl games (including all of the BCS bowl games) are in warm-weather climates: you don't want to risk inclement weather causing a boring game, keeping people from traveling to the destination or making the game actually unplayable. It's a safer bet and always a money-maker to schedule winter sports in warm-weather locales. And since the NFL has a seriously well-developed profit-sharing plan for owners, whatever makes the most money for one city, makes the most for all of the owners. Let's face it; it's always about the money.

Keep in mind though, they did play the last Super Bowl in Detroit, although it was a controversial choice at the time.

Because the NFL does not want to give an unfair weather advantage to one team in its biggest game of the year. They sell way too many commercials for America to see a blowout due sleet or snow.

The league doesn't want any possibility of adverse weather affecting the game itself. They want it to be played and seen (not a repeat of the ice bowl).

They want the publicity, the market share, the profits, the advertising, etc. to be able to be there to make them $$$

Becuase it's hard to get people to go visit Cleveland in February and spend thousands of bucks for a football game.

I'm thinking that it's to allow both teams equal opportunity without having the elements of nature favor one team or another which might be more apt to the conditions.

1. B/c it is Winter.
2. B/c it is like "reward" at end of tough season.

PS--Google "The Ice Bowl" of late 1960's.

because the NFL is an offensive-happy league. putting a super bowl in the rain or snow: not good for offense...so the NFL puts them in the places that have the best playing conditions(warm, dry, etc.)

offense really doesnt matter that much to me.

offense wins games

DEFENSE WIN CHAMPIONSHIPS.

thats why the Ravens are gonna win another Super bowl ring: their defense is AMAZING.

hope this helps.

Because the players, fans, media, audience, event planners, even workers, etc, etc, would rather it be in a warm climate. remember, the Superbowl isn't just one day. there are events that whole week revolving around the game.
