You know the excuse you gave as to why you couldn't go to work.

And why?

I got someone to phone in and tell them I had lost my voice, so I could spend the day with them!!!!

What are your stories - I need a good laugh

Not sure if this counts as 'throwing a sickie', but I was pulled up for walking in late (again due to a rampant hangover), and the boss who very often walked in late week in week out, decided out of the blue to ask me why I was late.

I couldn't believe her audacity, but could tell in her eyes that was being quite serious, so looking her straight in the eye I replied with an apologetic shrug, "Ah. I had a REALLY difficult shite. Just couldn't get off the toilet this morning."

I rang in and said I had really bad sunburn, then as i said it I realised I would have to go get a tan real quick!

I spent the day out on a friends boat and burnt to a crisp. I then really did have to take a couple of days off as I was redder than a lobster dipped in red paint!

I should really have just told the truth, that I wanted to spend the day fishing and getting pissed on a boat.

xx

I got spotted once when I rang in with 'stomach problems'

I was running for a bus to go shopping in town and my boss drove past.

When he saw me the next day, I had to lie and say I was on my way to the doctors and got caught short, so was running to find a loo. I dont know if he believed me or not, but he neversaid anything.

"My neighbor and friend down the street is out of town and phoned me after the dog-sitter called and said their dog died. They asked me to bury it, and it needs to be done soon, as they have several other dogs in the house that are very curious. The dog sitter is an old lady, and I'm the only other person around they knew to call."

That was stolen from a real-life situation that caused me to be late to my first job. I've re-used it because it's believeable. It's especially good in the winter, when the ground is almost solid and it'll take a good while to dig.

The nurses contained in the school hate me cuz I fake ill so many times, so i can't fake ill now. After my seventh era type, i'm left with a decision: fail or ditch. i elect to ditch. I cover in a school bathing room (I nevertheless favor to experience the bus abode, i can't merely go away) for a lengthy time period. without note, a alarm is going off. I easily ought to go away. there is this rule you should be with a type even as outdoors in a drill, so this jack-*** instructor comes over to me and asks the position's my type. I lie and say I went to the nurses workplace and am going abode ill. merely that 2d the nurses come as a lot as us and say in the different case. I freak out, i have been stuck. there is really one component left to do. I commence crying. The jack-*** instructor backs off and without note, slightly baby falls and cuts his knee. The nurses rush over to him (thanks baby, whoever you're) and that i slip into the trees. once i'm particular this is secure to go back out, I sneak over and board the bus. we've a great college and no human being yet my close friends do not ignore that this befell to me. i have realized my lesson and could in no way ditch lower back. i am going to also in no way ever bypass to the nurses workplace lower back and that i have been attempting to dodge the jack-*** instructor. I only did it once.
I worked for a chain store, with a lot of employees.
I rang up and said that I was vomiting, but went shopping with a friend. All day I was worried that I was going to bump into someone, it ended up being a horrible day.
I have never done it again.

My employer provides 10 sick days for the employees. Whenever I "feel" sick, I just call up and say I won't be in because I'm not feeling well. Whether I'm actually sick or not. Sometimes I just don't feel like being here. So, I'm sort of mentally sick. I rarely get physically sick (flu, cold, etc.)

No excuses. I not trying to get away with anything.
