Cymbals are important and I've heard some REALLY bad ones.

Drums: Sonor, DW, Tama, Gretsch
Cymbals: Can never go wrong with K series Zildjians. The best all-around cymbals in my opinion. They have a fast attack with a quick decay. Great for recording. If you want a big and bad ride, then get a Z heavy ride. It has a big bombastic bell. The A series Ping ride has the best tonal quality though. High-hats: Give the K/Z 13" combo a try. I love them.
