Is there away to stop crank calls and texts from someone who's pestering me apart from contacting the police who probably won't do anything.

Ring them back and have a chat.
They might just stop it ?

This will only work if you know the exact number and they don't make it a private number. But I know for some phones they allow you to set caller profiles that control the types of ring, vibration, etc. For an unwanted call just set it to no ring, no vibrate, no notification and set the number to that profile. That way you won't ever hear the phone ring if they try to call you.

you have to change your number unfortunately. Alternatively you could buy a PAYG phone and crank call them in the middle of the night

Tell your service provider. They may take action against them or might suggest you have a new number.

only if there is option in the phone itself, but it is not an option to do it with provider
