Hi there!

I'd suggest getting a self feeder and waterer. They are sold at Petsmart (http://www.petsmart.com/global/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441779503&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302025542&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374302023690&bmUID=1167952232672&itemNo=1&In=Cat&N=2025542&Ne=2) Wal Mart and Target and are great for hungry cats. They can eat all day and you only have to refill the container 1-2 times a month. This way your cats won't be hounding you as soon as you get in the door to be fed. I have one for my cat, and she loves it! She eats when she wants, and she can come back to it for a snack throughout the day while my husband and I are at work. Hope this helps!! :)

Dogs should be made to wait for the pack leader to say when, but cats are another story. Maybe they want dinner and maybe they are glad to see you. Greet them enthusiastically and go about some short routine, enjoy the attention for a few minutes and then by all means feed them so you can get on with being home. You work for them and that's only reason they let you live there after all. Just saw the one about feeders and waterers, my cats have those, but they still want to keep us in our place when we have neglected them all day. They don't NEED anything except to remind us who's in charge.

Animals are innocent and only know there own little lives. If they need to eat right away then feed them. Try feeding twice a day, the same amount but split up to extend their feeding time. If you really don't like them, and it kind of sounds like you don't, then you should take them to a animal shelter to be adopted out to someone who won't get upset that they need to eat. Good luck.

Cats can be very "in-your-face" about feeding time! We have a cat who will literally HOWL to be fed - we know he's not hungry, he just likes to eat! You don't need to immediately run from your front door to the cat bowl to feed them, but the sooner you feed them, the faster they're out of your face with the howling, and on to more important things - like cuddling. Good luck with your kitties!

You eat first, then they eat. You are the alpha of the pack or whatever, they can damn well like it, or learn to use a can opener.

Trying to feed them at a regular time is a good idea - so if you eat at 6, they get theirs at 7 and so on.
