solve for y, substitue into the other one and solve for x:

y = 2x +2

(2x +2)^2 - 11x - 4 =0
4x^2 +8x +4 - 11x -4 =0
4x^2 -3x = 0
x(4x-3) =0

x = (0, 3/4)
