I am getting an infertility test done soon and they told me I have to keep the specimen at body temprature until I get it to the lab. Any ideas how I can do this? The lab is a half hour from my house.

You will get a much more accurate result if you supply the specimen at the lab instead of home. They have to receive it within 30 minutes of ejaculation so if you hit traffic or anything you will get inaccurate results. If you do decide to do it at home, ejaculate into the sterile cup, put it into a paper bag, and hurry to the lab--it will hold its temp for the drive there. A lot of women who take their husband's sample put the cup in their bra between their breasts.

My poor husband had to park in a half-built subdivision and "produce his specimen" in the car. Then, he had to hand off his sample to a girl he went to high school with at the hospital. And worst of all, they lost it and he had to do it again!

Unfortunately, there is no way around it if you live too far from the hospital. Maybe you should get the test done at an infertility lab (can be recommended by a reproductive endocrinologist) in your area. They have private rooms and pornography to help you along, and I think it costs about the same as getting the analysis done at a hospital.

My husband had this test, but they prefered that the specimen be collected at the hospital near the lab.

Keep it in an inside pocket. Or better yet keep it between your legs when you're driving. That will keep it warm just like it needs to be.
