Okay here is it, I need your opinion, my best friend has not had her period since Nov 18?
I spent about 130 bucks buying her all sorts of pregnancy tests--all kinds, the expensive ones the generic ones--they have all been negative..she still has yet to start, She of course does have a doctor appt next week, this is where we are having our disagreement about, she thinks that a woman only misses her period when she is pregnant, I am trying to tell her that there are several reasons why she may be late, not necesaarily pregnant, anything from nerves, stress, etc--Am I at least right about that? Is it possible that maybe it is too soon for a Home test to work, but a blood test may show?

Additional Details

also i forgot to add she has no symtoms of being pregnant, no morninf sickness, not tired, no sore breasts--nothing

You are right.
Just because you are pregnant you don't have to have any symtoms at this early stage.
Your can be late for many many many reasons. I would only worry if this was to for a longer time (and not being pregnant of course).
Late period could be sign for, YES you are pregnant and like you say stress....medication.....hormons.....birth control.....body changes....you name it.
Know your body...if you feel something is wrong....let met tell you most of the time it is. Good or bad.
The good thing right now is that she does have an appointment next week and I wish her all the luck.
If she is pregnant it still does not have to show when you do the blood test....it happens all the time.
But anyway the doctors will give you all the information you need.
And don't forget to ask questions....there are no stupid questions when it comes to knowing more about your own body.
I hope this is something she wanted..and if not....well just do the right thing."
Take care ....

Yes, you are right that other things can delay your period. Stress can play a big role in late, or missed periods. It could be possible that the tests are not detecting it, yet, but I would say she is probably safe. If she is that worried about it, then the doctors appointment is going to be her best bet. A blood test will definitely show whether she is really pregnant or not. I wish her much luck.

If that many pregnancy tests came back negative then I would assume that she is not pregnant-they are 99% accurate. And yes, stress, sickness and other factors can mess with your period and not let it come on time or at all for a month or 2.It is good she has a doctors appointment because they will do a blood test to see if she is pregnant and those are 100% accurate.

if she is stressing about it way too much that can make it very late. Problems at work, home, wherever. She needs to calm down and relax ( I know easier said than done), but she needs to try otherwise she will drive herself nuts and get sick.
The most promising thing to do is have a blood test done when she goes to her appointment. Blood tests can determine pregnancy 7 days after a missed period, where as a home test can tell 14 days after a missed period, and be accurate.

im four months pregnant and had no symptoms until about 3 weeks ago. It took a blood test to show I was pregnant. Although it's probably stress or anxiety it's smart for her to go to the doctor to be absolutely sure. better safe than sorry.

If she's taken a pregnancy test and they have all come up negative then she's probably not pregnant. She needs to calm down because the worrying could be causing her period to be late!

There are alot of different things that could affect that! Is she on any form of birth control? Is she extremely athletic? She could have something wrong with her insides. She could be in the beginning stages of endometriosis. Stress. Nerves because she is afraid that she might be pregnant. There are literally tons of things that could cause her period to be irregular.

The first thing the drs office will do is test her pee too.....if that comes back neg too....they will ask her questions regarding the way she takes her pill ...if at all....stress, what symptoms if any she has......from what it sounds like I doubt tjhey will doa blood test unless she insists.

I bet they go ahead and examine her while she is there. A dr can tell if there is any change that way too.
