My question is this...if a college sport has both a womens and a mens team, should the uniforms be gender based or should both sexes have to wear the same thing. meaning, if the men or women have a part of the uniform to wear, the other gender has to wear the same thing? im talking about a certain sport but dont wanna say it and persuade your answer...if you would like to know all the details, after posting a reply, send a message and i will tell you everything.

some more info...the sport that is in talk is collegiate bowling. the mens uniform includes slacks and a polo shirt. the womens uniform includes choice of shorts, skirts, or slacks (with pantyhose) and a polo shirt. Guys were upset because they feel they should have the choice of wearing shorts as well. So the women said that if they get to wear shorts then they have to wear pantyhose just like the girls.
its not like its unhealthy, guy swimmers wear speedos that are tight. along with bikers, runners wearing spandex that are tight and football players that wear girdles for their pads. Its not like all the girls like wearing them but they have to. just wondering if there is an arguement to why the guys shouldnt have to besides that it would be uncomfortable.

I see no reason that if you set a dress code, should one gender get a better advantage out of it than another.
So, if the requirement is for Women to wear Hose with Skirt or Shorts, than that is the dress code.
If a male wants to wear Shorts, then he has to wear Pantyhose.
If they allow the men to wear shorts without Hose, then they should do away with it for women.
I really find it unfair of having Gender Specific Uniforms or Dress Codes. If the policy is one way for one person, it should be that way for everyone, regardless of gender.
Basically, what my thought is, it is a team uniform, not a gender uniform. Basketball, everyone wears the same thing. Football, the same thing.
Now, the only exceptions would be what you wear underneath, as pointed out above, women need the Sports Bras and Men need The Jock Straps or Cups.
And, really, men would not be forced to wear pantyhose here, it is just if they want the comfort of shorts, they need to do what any of the females have had to do in the past as well... I am all about gender equality.
I would go one further, if a man were to play on an all women's team, like say the Field Hockey team, then he is wearing the same uniform that everyone else is wearing...
Cheerleading is the same in that it allows the women to wear the same pants that the men wear, depending on the uniform. But, there is nothing said that if the male wanted to wear the skirted uniform he should not also have to wear the tights and all other associated clothing.

They should wear the same, but men should wear pants and socks, and girls should wear skirts and stockings or pantyhose. During college I once worked in a restaurant that had the lunch staff dress like that and it was better for both sexes. We all made better tips guys and girls, than when we all dressed in pants.

i do believe that men and women should have different uniforms based on that men and woman have different body types. Men should be able to wear shorts along with pants and women should be able to wear shorts, and slacks with out the pantyhose.....i really dont get why you would have to wear pantyhose with slacks ...but w/e

The only clothing I know of that has a gender is the bra and the jock strap. If the men want to wear shorts, let them - but no hairy legs, it looks too ugly. Pantyhose? Sure - they make them for men now. http://www.activskin.com

I wouldn't have a problem wearing pantyhose if I was given an option to wear shorts. It only sounds fair.

I think the uniforms should be gender based. I've got this picture in my head of a group of guys in a bowling alley with tiny tan shorts on and it's scaring me!! Lol.

this is a good question..
i think they should have different uniforms.
lets say if you were a gymnast im pretty sure a boy wouldnt like to wear a leotard with no pants or a girl wouldnt like to wear a singlet with long ugly slack things.
