I am not very into politics but my sister who leans more toward the Republican side is & said that there would never be another democrat in the White House if the Republicans would change their views on these 4 things
1) abortion
2)Iraq
3)Stem cell research &
4) social programs
Do you think that is in any way true?

If Republicans changed their views on those four things...

They'd Be Democrats.

Well that would mean that there would be no more Republicans, as all politicians would be Democrats. Those 4 things are why we Republicans vote Republican. There would be only one party if we changed those views, so the parties would be irrelivant.

So sister thinks the Republicans should be pro-choice, pro-stem cell, anti-Iraq and pro social programs?

If they do that, they'd be call Democrats.

Nope. Not going to happen...it's what makes republicans who they are, and what makes democrats who they are.

If a democrat came out and said they were for Capital punishment; anti-same sex marriage, anti-welfare, for privatization of social security, anti-abortion....people would call them a republican.

those four issues are what makes the republicans what they are, if the republicans dropped those policies a new polotical party would emerage adopt those policies and republicans would cease to exist. your sister is right but what she failed to mention is that those policies are at the core of what republicans stand for.
so yeah it is true, but very irrelvant.

If the Republicans changed their views on those 4 items, they would be Democrats.
So it wouldn't make any difference.

No, the only time any one thinks about these issues is to get into politics.

Once they're there the issues fly out of the window.

No. Never is a long time. Once a party is in power they tend to become more and more corrupt, then they get thrown out.
