I listen to Lamb of God, Cradle of Filth, Arch Enemy, and things like that. Some of the bands do mention Satan alot, but that doesn't make you a devil worshiper. It's just music, until you go out and start sacrificing things. Keep listening to what ever you want!

I graduated from a strict private Baptist school. There they believed that anything over a certain beat was wrong (I can't remember what it was). And supposedly there was something in the Bible to support thier belief. So for some that is part of it...even without the lyrics...the speed of metal is already too fast and "evil" . How I managed not to get expelled is amazing as I was going to hardcore shows almost every weekend. Lol. And just so you know. Not all christians are so close minded...there is even christian hardcore bands and they are pretty good.

In large part it's because the bands put their image before their art, making them easy targets. Grindcore and death metal are homogenous forms of heavy metal calculated to offend uptight parents.

Grindcore and death metal lack variety in both form and content. These bands understand what their fans want (namely, music designed to annoy uptight parents) and they taylor their work to that end. In short, death metal and grindcore bands WANT negative attention from religious groups because it boosts record sales. There is nothing revolutionary about death metal or grindcore - it is patently reactionary. That is, death metal/grindcore is a reaction to easily offended fundamentalist Christian parents.

It's a cynical marketing scheme that disaffected loners all too willingly accept. Of course the churches love it too because it gives them something to rail against (which of course brings them more $$$).

Give these pathetic bands enough time and they'll eventually renounce their past and become pathetic born-again Christians.

Some people are really have some bad image with this kind of music. But in my opinion, all music are good, its express what is inside of each musician's heart, and especially of this music, they are really expressing it in a open way. Maybe some people saw some sign or something like that in their cover art or some words in their lyrics, then they will said that they are satanic !!! What a fool thought they have. In my opinion, many people in this world have been so narrow minded, people in any religion are being told to avoid metal music. So people like that being inject in their mind that this kind of music is satanic, then their own music is angelic ???

for the same reason rock and roll was considered satanic in the 1950's, rock in the 60's made you do drugs, disco was too sexy in the 70's and my mother thought I was suicidal in the 80's because I wore too much black and crucifixes.
