The Nile is the longest river, the amazon is the 2nd longest. it is quite a often mistake to think that the amazon is the longest. the amazon however does hold the most water, in fact it holds more than the rest of the top ten combined.

If one ignores the name change the Mississippi Missouri is the longest. The Nile is second, but even that divides into the White and Blue Nile.
